Modern Wine Displays for an Exclusive, Speakeasy-Style Space near Jackson Square

Exclusive Modern Wine Display for Restaurants
This secret dining room is meant for wine lovers and enthusiasts who enjoy dining luxuriously.

Modern wine displays are taking the hospitality industry by storm. How a wine collection is organized and presented can influence a customer’s experience and buying decisions; that’s why curating displays are often seen as a catalyst for generating more sales.

Don’t get us wrong, though. Curating wine displays is not just about organizing your collection for visual satisfaction. It’s about bringing different elements together so they speak to the customer and compel them to buy — like this modern wine cellar design inside a secret wine retreat!

Exploring the Space for This Modern Wine Display

This restaurant was one of the most unique establishments the Wine Cellar Specialists team had worked on. It had a very regal theme, and what’s special about this bar was they had a secret room that could only be accessed through the kitchen office. The entrance to it was not even a normal door, but one needed to push a secret wall within the kitchen office.

The room was intended to give customers a very exclusive dining experience, embraced in a very speakeasy-like environment. The headroom of the window-less wine space was 13 feet high, so the team had plenty of height to work with. They built a glass wine cellar that stood from floor to ceiling, and it had become a popular crowd-pleaser, getting the room booked for four nights a week!

These Modern Wine Displays Have a Secret Door!

Modern Wine Displays Need Modern Wine Racks

Backtracking to the planning stage, the priority was always to develop a wine closet design that would satisfy the client’s vision and the room’s capacity. The business owner dreamt of a modern wine racking display system that stylishly holds their collection in a label-forward orientation. His specific wish was not to bring in racks that display bottles in a cork-forward fashion.

The restaurant’s wine collection consisted of 750ML’s, magnum bottles (>1600ml), Pinot, Cabernet, and a few three-liter bottles, so the wine storage unit had to accommodate such variety.

Good thing VintageView had the perfect wine racks!

VintageView’s The Evolution Series features steel wine rods installed horizontally. Since the width of the cellar was smaller than the height, the rods had to run from wall to wall to maximize the space. Acrylic support panels were installed in the back wall, where the metal rods were attached.

High End Wine Cellars Modern Wine Display Racks
Metal racks carry majority of this modern wine display. Every rod was installed piece-by-piece to make sure they’re all secured.

The entire setup basically consists of several rows of metal rods cradling the bottles horizontally with the labels facing out. Displaying the labels makes it easy for the customers to identify the wine without frequently opening the closet.   These chic metal racks by VintageView are very popular in luxury restaurants and wine bars.

Apart from the metal wine rack, the team also installed custom case storage in the bottom section of the modern wine wall. This is where collectible wooden cases can also be displayed, adding a personalized touch.

Protecting Valuable Wines With Premium Glass Wine Cellar Doors

Display your wine collection with utmost pride using glass wine cellar panels. The luxurious and modern appeal of glass doors never disappoints, making it convenient for customers to see the collection.

In this project, the team put up four glass doors framed in black anodized aluminum. The glass used was dual-paned and thermally insulated to prevent moisture from forming on the glass surface. It’s important to keep external heat molecules away from the cold air inside the cellar to prevent condensation. As you know, condensation is a recruitment agent of mold.

This was one of the drawing plans for the modern wine racking display.

All the glass doors you see here were custom-built by the Solar team and the team was ecstatic to have them onboard for this modern wine display project.

Option 2: Chrome Door Frames

For those seeking a more lightweight and contemporary door frame option, brushed stainless steel in chrome color presents an appealing choice. Its elegant silverish-gray hue can perfectly complement a wine cellar with a futuristic theme, adding a touch of modernity to the overall aesthetic.

Option 3: Frameless Glass Doors

Enthusiasts of minimalist designs will find frameless wine cellar doors particularly appealing. Despite the absence of solid frames, the functionality remains robust and reliable as air gaps around the edges are effectively sealed with weather stripping. This seamless integration of form and function ensures that the frameless doors not only exude a sleek and modern aesthetic but also maintain their practicality and efficiency.

Ambiance is Key

Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting was used in this modern wine display. It wasn’t only applied inside the wine closet, but you can see them around the entire room. With the flexibility of adjusting and dimming the LEDs, the restaurant effortlessly curates the perfect atmosphere, ensuring a delightful dining experience for their esteemed guests.

A Powerful Ducted Cooling Unit Keeps The Collection Fresh

When it comes to custom commercial or restaurant wine cellars, having a reliable wine cooling system is key. It’s all about creating the perfect storage conditions that allow the wine to maintain its amazing flavors. And let’s face it, nothing beats opening a bottle of wine that’s been stored just right!

The advantage of working with wine cellar professionals like us and the Wine Cellar Specialists team is that we take the guesswork out of finding the suitable refrigeration unit for your project. We calculate heat load to determine the perfect size for your needs. In this wine closet, considering factors like the size of the modern wine room, its location, and even the amount of glass used, the team found that the fully ducted Wine Guardian wine refrigeration system fits the bill. It’s engineered for maximum performance and provides the flexibility needed during installation.

Now, during the installation process, the team faced a bit of a challenge with the wine cooling unit. The space between the building’s ceiling and the wine cellar’s ceiling was pretty tight. Luckily, they were able to find a workaround! They positioned the supply and return vents at the top corners of the modern wine room. The intake vent pulls air from the restaurant while the heat is vented up to the roof. They had to get a bit creative since the attic space couldn’t be used, but they found a way to make it work by venting the heat out through the ceiling.

One thing you’ll love about the wine cooling system used here is how quiet it is. Even with the doors open, you won’t hear a peep from the equipment. And the best part? These self-contained units require less maintenance compared to split systems. We do recommend an annual check-up to ensure everything’s running smoothly and your wine cooling system is creating that ideal storage environment.

Modern Wine Displays for Luxury Wine Bars
This modern wine display was curated to resound a very luxury ambiance.

Wine Cellar HVAC technicians will thoroughly check the ducting to make sure there are no leaks or issues. It’s an essential step because catching any problems early on can save you from severe damage to your climate control system and, of course, help protect the quality of your precious wines.
